Influencer Marketing- Did you get influenced yet?
Imagine you’re searching for a website to do a specific course you’re interested in. You come across 2-3 websites offering this course and the price is almost the same. You try to find differences in their curriculum and syllabus but that is also more or less the same.
In this state of confusion, you talk to one of your good friends who knows about one of the websites and she tries to convince you that it is the best. You are very likely to get ‘influenced’ by her if you trust her or maybe just admire her choices.
In this era of Gen Z, influencing has become indispensable. Since the competition has increased multifold the winner in this race is one who can influence you and drive your attention to them (the same applies to the dating world).
Influencer marketing has come up as the trendiest marketing strategy of 2020. Now it is #influencermarketing everywhere.
It is pretty evident what influencer marketing is from its name only. The example given above further explains it.
Here goes the technical definition-
Influencer marketing involves a brand collaborating with an online influencer to market one of its products or services.
Since we are Gen Z who are known to be lazy, we won’t spend much time comparing things that aren’t that relevant (though we do think a lot before swiping right). Influence us and we’ll believe you. But we’re not stupid. It matters to us who the influencer is and how it is conveyed to us.
It helps a lot if the influencer is connected to the brand or industry he’s marketing. (Virat Kohli promoting Victoria’s secret? :P)
Influencers should be well-connected with society, should know how to create an impact, and have active minds(No, having just 23.6k followers is not enough). They are trendsetters and knows exactly how to present things which will make us crazy about that. ( Komal Pandey wearing boyfriend pants? Bro, I want one too. Shopping?)
You must be wondering is influencer marketing even worth it?
Should companies even spend their resources on it?
Influencer marketing works because it relies on both social
and content marketing tools, as the influencer attracts the crowd giving
genuine thoughts and ideas. Thus, credibility and genuine authority are already
established in the minds of the audience. What is more important for a business
than this? (other than profits) Consumer trust and amazing content are enough to
gain your target audience. #Didyougetinfluencedyet?
We looked for the most amazing examples of influencer marketing and here are a few-
As part of its #CrazyForReading promotional campaign, Amazon roped in India’s bestselling author, Amish Tripathi to endorse the e-reader. Capturing the author’s reading habits on the e-reader and taking the viewer through his journey of reading books to now reading on Kindle had a huge influence on the book lovers in our country. We all love The Shiva Trilogy, don’t we?
Nick Offerman is best known for playing the fictional character Ron Swanson on the sitcom Parks and Recreation. His character is hyper-masculine––one you would picture sipping on whiskey in his free time just as this campaign for Lagavulin Whiskey portrays. This campaign featured a 45-minute long video of Nick Offerman sipping whiskey by a fireplace. (yes, that's it). Still, it was incredibly effective (no guys we don't encourage you to try this) Sometimes all it takes is a well-known public figure doing something so simple (but outlandish when put in video form) to make an impact. The video published a few years back has received more than 3 million views to date.
We strongly recommend you to see this video. (only if you have 45 mins to watch a man just drink whiskey)
Here are some for you-
"73% of marketers stay that they have allocated a budget for influencer marketing"
"49% of people (especially Gen Z) rely on recommendations from influencers while making purchase decisions"
(we all know why you bought that deodorant)
Voila! Against all odds, we did manage to complete this. See you next Sunday!
We hope we were successful in 'influencing' you?
Certainly getting 'influenced' by the blog.
